Fallen Angels - Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, Michael Flynn Actually a pretty interesting blend of hard science, speculative science, and dystopia. You can't really complain when all the heroes are sci-fi fanatics, and they actually manage to save the day!

I agree with others that the descriptions of the glaciers was really fascinating, and much of the other research was interesting as well.

Not a bad read, even though the environmental positioning was laid on a little thick.
